The Rhein Fire lost 7-6 yesterday to the Cologne Centurions, ending a run of recent success for Cowboys quarterback Chad Hutchinson. Hutchinson was 11-of-26 for 94 yards on the afternoon, including 1 interception, 1 fumble, and 5 sacks.
The lone interception came just when it looked like the Fire were in position to attempt a game-winning field goal with time winding down. Hutchinson forced in a pass at the Cologne 25-yard line that was intercepted with 17 seconds left.
His quarterback rating on the day was a dismal 36.4.
As a result of Sunday's performance, speculation continues to mount that Hutchinson's days in Dallas are quickly coming to an end.
The Cowboys are interested in bringing in a veteran quarterback to help work with both Quincy Carter and Drew Henson this season, and with several other back up quarterbacks battling for a spot on the 53-man roster, Hutchinson could be the odd man out.
In an ideal situation, the Cowboys would like to work out a trade for Hutchinson, but it's unclear what they would actually be able to get for his services.
