Ward Out 4 to 6 Weeks

Veteran Dedric Ward, signed just two weeks ago to a one-year contract to provide some veteran depth at receiver in light of the Antonio Bryant controversy, broke his foot in practice and will be four to six weeks.

Ward underwent surgery Friday to repair the broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot. Team physician Dr. Dan Cooper performed the operation.

His expected recovery time is four to six weeks, and with the start of training camp now only 5 weeks away, he may miss the early stages in Oxnard, California.

"Of course it's disappointing," Ward said in an interview late last week. "You never want to start out getting injured, but I'm going to be aggressive with it and be back by the start of training camp. I'm going to do everything to get myself ready."

Ward has brought in 166 catches for 2,302 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career.
