Cowboys - Texans Tonight!

The Dallas Cowboys will get their first look at starting quarterback Vinny Testaverde, not to mention former Michigan signal caller Drew Henson tonight against the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium.

The Cowboys will return to Reliant Stadium in Houston for the first time since the 2002 season opener this evening hoping for better results as Dallas takes on Houston in the first preseason game of 2004 for both teams.

But don't expect a lot of fireworks.

Both clubs are expected to play their reserves for a majority of the contest as Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells said yesterday that the Cowboys had no gameplan for tonight's game, and Texans head coach Dom Capers indicated that most of his starters will be resting by halftime.

"We don't implement gameplans usually until the third game of preseason," said Capers. "As far as specifying things and changing things, our game plans will be generic. It will be what we've done out here. Some of it will be good, and some of it will be not so good, but that's part of the preseason."

Parcells said to expect the first units to play between 15-20 plays tonight.

In terms of injuries, three players for the Cowboys won't see the field this evening.

"Other than Darren Woodson and Gennaro DiNapoli, I'm gonna leave Leo Carson here," said Parcells Friday afternoon. "I just think the few days, after 24 practices, I just think the few days will do him some good."

Carson had offseason surgery and has experienced swelling in his knee this week. Jermaine Brooks will replace Carson as a starter.

Kick-off tonight at Reliant Stadium is scheduled for 7 PM. The game will be televised in the Dallas area on KTVT/CBS 11.
