Lions - Cowboys Report Card

PASSING OFFENSE: B -- Quarterback Vinny Testaverde threw three interceptions, but he also threw three touchdown passes. Two picks were the fault of poor route running by receiver Keyshawn Johnson, who also caught two touchdown passes. Tight end Jason Witten caught nine passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.

RUSHING OFFENSE: A -- The Cowboys ran the ball a season-high 41 times and controlled the time of possession. Eddie George rushed 31 times for 99 yards in the game. The commitment to the ground game paid off in third-down conversions and kept the defense off the field.

PASS DEFENSE: B -- Roy Williams set the tone early with a big hit on receiver Tai Streets, who caught no more passes in the game. Maligned cornerback Terence Newman had two pass deflections. Rookie cornerback Lance Frazier gave up a 50-yard touchdown pass, but he also got the team's first interception in 14 quarters.

RUSH DEFENSE: A -- The Lions rushed for just 39 yards in the game. Kevin Jones had l1 rushes for 36 yards.

SPECIAL TEAMS: A -- Lance Frazier had a 55-yard punt return. Reshard Lee had a 52-yard kickoff return. The key was the coverage teams, which contained dangerous returner Eddie Drummond. Safety Keith Davis led the way.

COACHING: B -- The only goal on Sunday was to win and stay alive. It wasn't pretty, but the mission was accomplished. A win against the Bengals on Sunday would put the Cowboys back at .500 and keeps their fledgling playoff hopes alive.
