According to several sources, the Dallas Cowboys and defensive tackle Jason Ferguson have reached an agreement on a multi-year deal, in principle.
After spending the day with Cowboys' offcials on Wednesday, Ferguson returned home after reaching an agreement with the team. He is scheduled to earn $11.5 million over the first two years of his deal.
An announcement from the team is expected on Thursday.
Ferguson's addition makes it crystal clear that the Cowboys will switch to a 3-4 defensive scheme, where he will play as a nose tackle.
At 6-3, 305 pounds, the former New York Jet would be a significant addition to a unit that lacks size and bulk.
The Cowboys can now turn their attention to offensive lineman Marco Rivera, who was also being hosted by the team on Wednesday. Rivera, a massive guard who has spent his entire career in Green Bay, is believed to be close to signing with Dallas.
An announcement regarding Rivera could also come today.
