RB Visiting Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys will workout this up and coming draft prospect on Tuesday. Read on to find out who it is!<BR>

Junior running back Eric Shelton will be in Valley Ranch Tuesday to work out for the Dallas Cowboys.

The big back, who projects as a first day pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, rushed for 938 yards on 146 carries last season for the Louisville Cardinals.

Scout.com currently lists Shelton as the No. 6 ranked running back available in this year's draft.

"He's a king sized ball carrier with excellent speed as well as running back instincts," noted one NFL Scout.

Shelton began his career at Florida State, before transferring to Louisville.
"Shelton is more than a road grade that barrels over defenders rather an intelligent back that sees the field, follows blocks and picks his spots."

Shelton himself is excited about his upcoming NFL career. After declaring for the draft as a junior in early January, he's made significant headway in the eyes of many NFL teams.

"I've interviewed with about half of the NFL teams at the combine," Shelton told Scout.com in a recent interview. "Most of them are pretty interested but I can't really be specific about who was more interested than the others because you never really know."

The Cowboys have made no secret about the fact that they would like to add another running back to play behind Julius Jones next season.

Shelton, who stands in at 6-feet-1 inch tall, and weighs 246 pounds, would be the perfect compliment to the smaller Jones.

Shelton claimed third team All-Conference USA honors as a sophomore, rushing for 790 yards and 10 touchdowns in just 10 games. As a freshman at Florida State, the jumbo back saw action in all 11 games and ranked fourth on the team with 29 carries for 130 yards.
