Big Time LB will Visit with Dallas

TheRanchReport.com first reports of this big time linebacker who will visit with the Dallas Cowboys.

And no, we aren't talking about Texas LB Derrick Johnson.
According to several sources, the Dallas Cowboys will workout Florida middle linebacker Channing Crowder (6-2.5, 248) sometime during the next several days.

The Cowboys have been looking hard at several positions for the 2005 draft, including defensive end, wide receiver, safety, and also linebacker.

Bill Parcells has made no secret about the fact that he likes "bigger" linebackers, and Crowder certainly qualifies at almost 6-feet-3 inches tall, and 248 pounds.

Crowder also is currently ranked as the No. 1 middle linebacker prospect available in the 2005 NFL Draft by Scout.com.

One NFL scout recently noted, "He's a physical, aggressive linebacker with a variety of skills. Channing Crowder is an excellent run defender and a technique tackler who gets through blocks on his way to the action. He runs with speed laterally and easily brings down opposing ball carriers on initial contact."

Crowder was a two-year starter and an All-Conference selection last season at Florida. He posted 73 tackles, including 8.5 for loss, two sacks, an interception, and three fumble recoveries.

He was also named the the SEC Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2003.

"Crowder is a defensive force that can be used in a variety of ways, and he consistently makes his presence felt on the field. Besides a game-impacting linebacker, he has also been an outstanding special teams player at Florida," added the scout.

For the Cowboys, Crowder is a player that may be available as late as the bottom of the first round, or possibly into the second.

While the exact date of Crowder's workout is not known, TheRanchReport.com has confirmed that the Cowboys are interested in the former Florida Gator.
