The Dallas Cowboys selected Demarcus Ware with the No. 11 overall selection Saturday. Here's a look at his official bio and career highlights.

2004 Game Notes: Earned Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the season-opening win over Marshall...Recorded seven tackles against the Herd, including 4.5 for loss. Had three of the Trojans' eight sacks in the game...Forced two fumbles, had two QB hurries and one PBU...Had six tackles, including two for loss, in the win over Missouri...Recorded one sack against the Tigers...Had two tackles, including a sack, at South Carolina...Made just four tackles against Utah State, but all were for loss, and three were sacks. Added three quarterback hurries against the Aggies as well.

2003: Started all 12 games for the Trojans at defensive end … earned All-Independent honors by the College Football News and ESPN.com after recording 62 tackles, 43 solo, with a team-high 16 for a loss and six sacks for a total loss of 40 yards … also tallied a team-best 32 quarterback hurries with one pass broken up … forced five fumbles, recovered two and blocked a punt … ranked seventh nationally in forced fumbles with five (.42 per game) … named to the preseason watch list for the 34th annual Lombardi Award … a preseason All-Independent selection by College Football News, who also named him to the preseason "All-America Watch" list … set a career high with five tackles for a loss in the season finale against Louisiana-Monroe … recorded at least three tackles in every game and had at least one tackle for a loss in eight games … had three tackles for a loss in the Trojans' homecoming win over Florida International, including two sacks for a total loss of 18 yards … had a career-high eight quarterback hurries twice, vs. Florida International and Louisiana-Monroe … Had his best all-around game against La.-Monroe with seven tackles, six solo, five for a loss, a sack, two forced fumbles, eight quarterback hurries, a pass broken up and a blocked punt … had 21 quarterback hurries in the Trojans' four home games for an average of more than five per game … had at least one quarterback hurry in all but three games.

2002: Came out of the spring listed as the backup at left end but took over the job after the team's first game at Nebraska following an injury to starter Shelton Felton, and he never relinquished the starting role … finished with 19.5 tackles for loss (-80 yards), which tied for ninth nationally with teammate Osi Umenyiora … also ranked 15th nationally with nine sacks … earned first-team All-Independent honors from the College Football News … ranked fifth on the team with 72 total tackles … was second on the team with 13 quarterback pressures … posted a career-high 13 tackles in first career start against UAB on Sept. 7, also tallying three tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery … had eight tackles in games against Missouri and Arkansas … finished the season by tallying three sacks each in games against Florida A&M and Utah State … posted a season-best 3.5 tackles for loss against Florida A&M as well … finished with three or more tackles for loss in a game five times … recorded his first career forced fumble against Arkansas on Nov. 2 … in final three games, tallied 21 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, six sacks and four QB hurries … had a career-high three QB pressures against Mississippi State, Florida Atlantic and Florida A&M.

2001: Played in eight games as a reserve for the Trojans, finishing with 14 tackles, three tackles for loss (-15) and two sacks (-12) … recorded his first career sack against Nicholls State (Sept. 8) and his second against Cal State Northridge (Oct. 20) … recorded a career-high seven tackles against 15th-ranked Maryland (Nov. 3) … had two tackles each in games against NSU and CSN … also finished with two QB hurries, recording one each against Louisiana-Monroe (Nov. 10) and Jacksonville State (Nov. 17).

PREP: Played two seasons at Auburn (Ala.) High School for coach Bill McCall … earned all-area honors as a senior when he had 40 tackles, 15 assists and seven sacks … earned Most Valuable Linebacker, Wide Receiver and leadership honors from the team … also participated in basketball, baseball and track & field.

PERSONAL: Born on July 31, 1982, in Auburn, Ala. … son of Brenda Ware and Otis Pitts … has a sister, Jakiethia Carr … majoring in information systems.
