Continuing their surge of offseason acquisitions, the Dallas Cowboys will workout former Atlanta Falcon and Cincinnati Bengal S Cory Hall at Valley Ranch.
Hall (6-0, 213), who was expected to re-sign with the Falcons this offseason, failed to attend two mini-camps due to confusion when he changed his agent before Atlanta elected not to bring him back.
If signed, Hall would compete with rookie Justin Beriault, Keith Davis, and Lynn Scott for the starting free safety position this year.
Hall is a six-year veteran who has been a starter most of his career. Originally drafted out of Fresno State, Hall has 222 total tackles six sacks and three interceptions during his NFL career.
The Cowboys are interested in signing a free safety that is strong specifically in coverage situations. This would allow strong safety Roy Williams more opportunities to make plays close to the line of scrimmage, where he has excelled since being drafted out of Oklahoma in 2002.
Hall has played both strong safety and free safety during his career in the NFL.
Dallas will likely make a decision on Hall as soon as today. Insiders suggest that he has an outstanding chance to be signed.
