Vikings Interested in Eddie George

The Vikings have been in contact with free agent veteran Eddie George to see if the running back wants to give it another run as a veteran backup.

Eddie George had a long and distinguished career with the Oilers/Titans organization, but, when his salary became an issue, the two parted ways and George went to the Cowboys. A year later, he's once again out of work ... but perhaps not for long.

VikingUpdate.com has been told that the Vikings are negotiating with George's agent to sign the veteran running back to take the place on the roster that opened when Onterrio Smith was suspended for a year after violating the league's substance abuse policy for a third time.

After the incident happened, Mike Tice told VikingUpdate.com that the Vikings would look to add a veteran running back prior to the start of training camp. A couple of names that had been mentioned were George, Richie Anderson and Tyrone Wheatley, but at this point, talks seem to be centered on George.

Last year in Dallas, George had 132 rushes for 432 yards (3.3/attempt) and four touchdowns.
