Special Teams: K Billy Cundiff, K Brett Visintainer, P Mat McBriar, P Clint Greathouse, LS/TE Jeff Robinson, LB/LS Jon Condo.
Cowboys punter Mat McBriar showed much potential as a rookie, averaging 42.4 yards on 75 punts with no blocks and 22 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
He also established himself as the clear favorite during the team's mini-camp in May when he literally took almost every single snap when called upon over former Texas Tech standout Clinton Greathouse.
At placekicker, things aren't as certain. Bill Parcells remains leery about kicker Billy Cundiff, who was 11 for 11 inside 40 yards last season but was erratic from further out.
His longest field goal came from a respectable 49 yards out, but he landed just six of his 66 kickoffs into the endzone.
Parcells thinks Cundiff should be tougher so the Cowboys signed former Fresno State standout Brett Visintainer to challenge him during training camp. Visintainer already demonstrated good accuracy and excellent leg strength during the team's mini-camp.
Jeff Robinson returns as one of the best deep snappers in the league, but the Cowboys would like to unload his $1.3 million cap figure. The key, suprisingly, rests with free agent Jon Condo, who will challenge Robinson during training camp.
The Cowboys specifically scouted long snappers during the winter and spring to look for a potential replacement at a better price. Condo could be that player.
In the return game, the Cowboys have plenty of options, but no proven performer. Marion Barber II will get a shot on kickoff and punts, as will Zuriel Smith. The Cowboys are also hoping the dazzling Woody Dantzler can make an impact in the return game, but he must first make the team as a backup safety.
