Looking for additional help in the trenches, the Dallas Cowboys signed free-agent tackle Cliff Washburn to a one-year deal Friday.
Washburn, an undrafted free agent out of The Citadel, has never played in a regular season game in the NFL. He originally signed with the Giants as a rookie in 2003 but was released at the end of camp.
He later was signed to the Chicago Bears practice squad and was eventually allocated to Amsterdam in NFL Europe in 2004. After spending the 2004 season on the Bears' practice squad again, Washburn went to training camp with the team last year before being released again before the start of regular season.
Washburn checks in at 6-5, 293 pounds.
