2006 Free Agents: Kickers

One of the primary needs for the Dallas Cowboys this offseason is obvious. But what can be done?

Top Names:
Adam Vinatieri - leading the way for the Cowboys this offseason is Adam Vinatieri. Vinatieri, who was a rookie with New England during Bill Parcells final year there, was 20-25 field goals last season with a long of 49 yards. The key with Vinatieri is his ability to win games later in the fourth quarter. From the regular season to AFC Championship games in the snow, to two game-winning kicks in the Super Bowl, no one does it better when it counts than Vinatieri.

Ryan Longwell - Longwell converted on 20-of-27 field goals with a long 53 yards for the Green Bay Packers last year. He doesn't have the league-wide respect that Vinatieri does, but he may more obtainable if the Patriots decide to franchise Vinatieri again. In addition, Ryan Longwell in Dallas is better than any of the four kickers used last year- Jose Cortez, Shaun Suisham, Billy Cundiff and Nick Novak.
