Cowboys Target Sleeper WR in Indy

Despite being from a small school, this little known wide receiver has impressed scouts with his speed, attitude and brute strength in the weight room.

The Dallas Cowboys have scheduled an interview with Monmouth (Division I-AA) WR Miles Austin, TheRanchReport.com has learned.

Austin has reportedly turned heads at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this weekend. He measured in at 6-2, 215 pounds and did 21 reps on the bench (225 pounds).

In college, Austin concluded an impressive career with 49 receptions for 1,004 yards and 13 touchdowns during his senior season.

In fact, he actually missed the last two games of the year and the second half of two games due to an injury, and still managed to rank third in the nation in receiving yards per game with 125.5.

He also ranked 10th in the nation in points per game with 9.0.

For his career, Austin is Monmouth's leader in every receiving category, with 150 receptions, 2,867 yards and 33 touchdowns. His total of 1,004 yards in 2005 was just 40 shy of the Monmouth single-season mark set by Anthony Galella in 1998.

So far at the Combine, Austin has interviewed with the Steelers, Giants, Rams, and Patriots, and he has also scheduled an interview with the Cowboys.

Most experts have him penciled in as a sixth round selection or later, but his stock risen considerably in just a short period of time in Indianapolis so that could change in the coming months.
