Cowboys Eye Versatile ACC Linebacker

TheRanchReport.com brings you the latest from the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Today, we bring to you another new name that has been extensively interviewed by the Dallas Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys are one of several teams who have extensively interviewed LB Gerris Wilkinson out of Georgia Tech, TheRanchReport.com has learned.

Wilkerson, who checked in at 6-3, 233 pounds this weekend, could be an outside or inside linebacker at the next level. In fact, that's one of the biggest questions facing NFL scouts before the draft is determining which position he is better suited for - where should he play?

Some teams like him better as a strong-side linebacker in a 4-3, while others like him on the inside in a 3-4 scheme.

As a senior with the Yellow Jackets, Wilkerson recorded 85 total tackles, including nine for loss, four sacks and two interceptions.

In addition to the Cowboys, Wilkerson has met with Atlanta, San Diego, Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Miami so far at the NFL Combine.

Wilkerson Notes
* He said Sunday that he played a lot of zone in college and best describes himself as a sideline-to-sideline player.

* Feedback he received from the Senior Bowl says his weakness is 1-on-1 coverage of tight ends.

* Wilkerson played at 229 pounds at Georgia Tech, but most teams want him to put on 10 to 15 pounds at the next level.
