A year after making the switch to the 3-4 defense, the Cowboys are on the market for several key upgrades- however one of the most important offseason acquistions would have to be at linebacker, where the team hopes to get a little younger and also a little bigger.
Enter Ohio State LB Bobby Carpenter, a massive linebacker (6-3, 255) with outstanding athleticism and a knack for making the big hit.
TheRanchReport.com has learned the Cowboys spoke with Carpenter at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis on several occasions, which clearly indicates significant interest.
Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Carpenter's father played for Bill Parcells in the 1980's with the New York Giants.
As a senior with the Buckeyes, Carpenter finished with 49 total tackles, including 10.5 for loss and eight sacks.
Carpenter is projected by many draft experts to go in the first round. He is currently ranked by Scout.com as the No. 4 outside linebacker available this year.
