LB Akin Ayodele: Deal or No Deal?

TheRanchReport.com brings you the latest on LB Akin Ayodele.

As of late Sunday evening, no deal has been reached between the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville LB Akin Ayodele, according to his agent, Mike Sullivan.

Sullivan declined to comment further on the subject, but TheRanchReport.com has learned the New York Giants wanted to meet with him as well. At this time, no visit to New York is planned.

Ayodele visited with the Cowboys this weekend.

The four-year veteran out of Purdue is a versatile player who could play both strongside and weakside linebacker, as well as defensive end in passing situations.

If an agreement is ever reached, he would likely take the place of unrestricted free agent Scott Fujita. The Cowboys have also been in contact with Fujita's agent within the last 24 hours.

Last season for the Jaguars, Ayodele recorded 70 tackles and 2.5 sacks. in 2004, he ranked second on the team for the second consecutive season with 131 tackles (82 solo), surpassing 100 tackles for the third consecutive season.

Ayodele, a native of Irving, was a ballboy for the Cowboys growing up.
