According to a league source, the Dallas Cowboys will have a private workout with Florida State defensive end prospect Kamerion Wimbley Wednesday, TheRanchReport.com has learned.
Wimbley, as you may recall, has received significant attention from Dallas before, both at the Senior Bowl in January and the NFL Scouting Combine the following month.
The Cowboys interviewed Wimbley at both events- a clear indication of their interest.
So why would the Cowboys be so intrigued with another defensive end prospect after drafting Marcus Spears in the first round last year?
Interestingly enough, Wimbley is not just viewed as a defensive end at the next level. In fact, some experts believe he could be better suited as a pass-rushing linebacker in a 3-4 scheme, which obviously fits what the Cowboys are trying to do.
With his size- he would also be an attractive fit as a linebacker as the Cowboys look to bulk up at the position.
Scout.com currently ranks Wimbley as the No. 2 defensive end prospect available in the 2006 NFL Draft.
