The Oklahoma NFL Draft prospect is as eloquent and thorough as they come – with NFL teams stressing character, Joseph will be a top pick.
A believer that the team is bigger than the individual, Davin Joseph put aside personal gain to help the program. He made thw switch from offensive guard to offensive tackle with mixed results.
Even though he was a consensus All-Big 12 performer at tackle, the move probably cost him All-American honors, but it may have also made him more desirable to the pros after showing his versatility.
And it does not end there. At the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Joseph got his first taste of an NFL coaching staff. He realized the specialized attention could lead into even more versatility.
"While at the Senior Bowl I had the opportunity to take advantage of the professional coaching," Joseph began. "Most of the pro coaches are telling me I will be a guard at the next level. I am a competitor. I am a guard, but I am progressing to play center. I want to be able to give the most to my team."
That would give him the ability to play every position on the line with a specialization in the guard position. Joseph placed first among offensive guards in every single agility test at the NFL Combines, including the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, and broad jump.
"I showed that I was more athletic than the other guards coming out," Joseph said.
An aggressive player, Joseph will, at times, lose control of his balance and technique. But his athleticism makes him an ideal candidate to lead the running back around the edge and seal the block.
"Core strength combined with a hell of a punch," Joseph said. "You need all that to be a good puller."
Joseph has visited with a number of teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots to name a few.
We caught up with Joseph to talk about a number of topics, including teams he worked out for, his ability to talk and much more:
