Payne Agrees, Then Backs Out

The Dallas Cowboys were on the verge of signing this UFA out of Middle Tennessee State.

The Dallas Cowboys came to terms with former Middle Tennessee State defensive end Bobby Payne (6-4, 286) before he decided to back out of the deal late Sunday, TheRanchReport.com has learned.

Payne was going to be the second undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State to sign with the Cowboys in as many years. Last year, just days after the draft the Cowboys came to terms with defensive tackle Thomas Johnson.

Johnson was inactive for the first 13 games of the season, but made his NFL debut against the Redskins in December and posted three tackles.
