It didn't take long for the injury bug to bite one of the newest members of the Dallas Cowboys.

Rookie offensive lineman E.J. Whitley, the Cowboys' last pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, will miss the entire 2006 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

Whitley, who was selected in the seventh round of April's draft, suffered the injury at the Cowboys' rookie mini-camp in early May.

A three-year starter with Texas Tech, Whitley was expected to compete for playing time at tackle this year.

The Cowboys will now turn their attention even more to Flozell Adams, who is expected to return from the knee injury that ended his 2005 season prematurely, and Jason Fabini, a veteran free agent who was signed to man the right tackle spot.
