Parcells Meets with the Media

OXNARD, Calif. - Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells met with the media Thursday. There were no new roster moves to report but a plethora of information was released about the offensive line, Saturday's scrimmage and more.

PARCELLS LIKELY KNOWS RT ANSWER: Bill Parcells hinted Thursday that he has already formulated a plan regarding the Cowboys' situation at right tackle.

"Right tackle is not the only thing that bothers me on the offensive line," he said. "I'm rotating them, but I think in a short time I know what I'm going to do. In a short time.

"I'm not ready to go 100% full with that."

Parcells then said later on that he will continue to change things up for the next few days.

"I just want to cycle them through there a few days and see how they perform. I want to see how they respond to Marco (Rivera) and (Jason) Witten. That's what I'm doing."

Rob Petitti, Jason Fabini and Marc Colombo continue to rotate at the right tackle position.

GURODE IMPROVING: Despite the constant negative news surrounding the offensive line through the first week of camp, Parcells did offer positive comments regarding guard/center Andre Gurode on Thursday.

"Andre is doing well," Parcells said. "I think this is the best I've seen him during my time here. I think I understand him now and he understands me. I can have pretty hard conversations with him at this point and he gets it.

"He's really trying to do what we are asking him to do. He's got to be the guy that directs protections if he's going to be the center. I don't know he's going to be the center."

Parcells also talked about the importance of having a good center.

"You cannot afford lapses in protection and you really can't afford it there. It's vital. If you are a distractible player, you really don't need to be playing center and I've talked to him a lot about that."
