Parcells Wants to See More of Vanderjagt

IRVING, TX. - Bill Parcells talked about the possibility of carrying two kickers this season and much more during his daily press conferece with the media.

ROSTER MOVES: The Dallas Cowboys added former Georgia Tech wide receiver/quarterback Damarius Bilbo to their roster on Thursday.

No other new roster moves have been reported as of noon central time.

PARCELLS WANTS TO SEE MORE VANDY: With veteran kicker Mike Vanderjagt sitting out Monday's game against New Orleans, Bill Parcells said he hopes to see more of him in the next two preseason games.

And not just on field goals and extra points.

"I'm hopeful he can get some kicks in this preseason," he said. "Yes I would like to see him kickoff. I haven't see him kick in practice."

When pressed about the possibility of determining who will handle kickoffs this season, Parcells said he has several options he's still considering, including Shaun Suisham and Tyler Fredrickson.

"I have guys here that kickoff," he said. "Two players here that kickoff adequately. The game the other night I thought Suisham kicked off pretty well."

Parcells added that he is going to give Fredrickson a look at punter this weekend against San Francisco.

DOUBTS AT WIDE RECEIVER: When asked about the Cowboys injury situation at wide receiver, Parcells said he has doubts about both Terrell Owens and Patrick Crayton's status for the season opener against Jacksonville.

"Why wouldn't you? I mean, we are getting pretty close," he said.

Crayton, who has said he hopes to be back for next Thursday's game against Minnesota, just took off a protective boot yesterday.

Still, Parcells has his concerns.

"God bless him," he said when hearing about Crayton's goal. "It's not like riding a bike for Patrick. I learned that last year. I want to get him back in and if I have two weeks to do that, that would be a big advantage for him."

Crayton told reporters that he anticipates doing more work in the coming days.

"I feel good right now," he said. "We did some cord work this morning. We are going to pick up the pace a little bit in the afternoon practice and see how it feels after that."

QUICK HITS: Parcells said that running back Tyson Thompson will return kickoffs this year. ... Parcells said that Wednesday's practice session focused more on blitzing and more complicated aspects to the 3-4 defense.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We traded a pretty good football player yesterday. That kid can help New Orleans. There's no doubt in my mind. That kid has a place in this league." -- Bill Parcells on trading LB Scott Shanle to New Orleans.
