'Boys - Steelers Notes

The Cowboys and Steelers have faced each other in three Super Bowls - X, XIII and XXX - with Pittsburgh winning two of those championships. No other teams have faced each other more times in Super Bowl games than Dallas and Pittsburgh.

--Sunday marks the first time these clubs have played each other in Pittsburgh since 1997.

A Cowboys win would increase Dallas' winning streak to a season-high four games. It would give Dallas at least nine wins in a season for the fifth time in the past six years and the 30th time overall.

--Cowboys coach Wade Phillips gave five veterans Wednesday off from practice: linebackers Greg Ellis and Zach Thomas, offensive tackles Flozell Adams and Marc Colombo and wide receiver Terrell Owens.

"We did rest some veterans today," Phillips said. "They went through all the meetings this morning, they went through the walkthrough, they went through the film after the walkthrough, but they didn't go through the regular practice itself.

"It's the time of year some of these guys need, we need to take a look at resting some of these players. Keep them off their feet. I think it will keep them fresher the last part of the season. It's something we did in the bye week."

--Cornerback Adam Jones turned some heads in practice Wednesday when he wore Homer Simpson pajamas under his Cowboys shorts.

--WR Terrell Owens has the same agent as Plaxico Burress, Drew Rosenhaus. But Owens and Burress have different attitudes toward guns. Owens said the only guns he needs are his biceps.

"I've never really had a reason to carry a gun," Owens said. "I don't feel like my life is threatened, although a lot of people don't like me. I don't carry myself like that. I think it's just an unfortunate situation. I'm sure Plax will have some time to assess the decisions he made. Other than that, the thing is, it's not a life-threatening situation. He'll be able to play next year."

BY THE NUMBERS: 7 - The number of catches Terrell Owens needs to pass Art Monk (940) for seventh place on the NFL's all-time career receptions list. He needs 14 receiving yards to pass Cris Carter (13,899) for sixth place and 114 to reach 14,000 yards for his career.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's a challenge for me, just like it's a challenge for them. They know I ain't no cupcake chump coming in there. I'm going to play hard, they're going to play hard. It's going to be a physical game up front, and it's going to be a physical game on the outside. I'll go to war with these guys any day, I'm talking about Patrick (Crayton) and Roy (Williams). We're going to go play." -- WR Terrell Owens on facing the Steelers top ranked defense.
