Cromartie for Choice? The latest

Published reports have indicated San Diego is shopping this former Pro Bowl corner for an up-and-coming running back. The Ranch Report has the latest...

With the impending move of LaDainian Tomlinson away from San Diego, the Chargers are interested in signing another running back to complement Darrin Sproles, according to multiple published reports.

Dallas, of course, has the deepest stable of running backs in the league with Marion Barber, a former Pro Bowler, not to mention Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.

So is there a potential fit?

"Not likely," according to what The Ranch Report is hearing.

For starters, bringing on additional depth at cornerback is not a priority- especially when it comes to giving up a valuable cog on the offensive side of the ball.

Despite his overall lack of carries (156) through his first two years in the league, the Cowboys believe Choice could see an increased role in 2010, and his 5.3 yards/carry average could certainly support the notion.

While Cromartie does offer intriguing value as a former Pro Bowl performer, chemistry has been a reported issue with him on the west coast, and given the strong position Dallas is in with its current starters in the defensive backfield (Newman, Jenkins, Sensabaugh and Hamlin), not to mention a strong nucleus of reserves, there is no sense of urgency with this potential trade.

Finally, when you consider the various injuries incurred by Barber in the last three seasons, Choice staying with the Cowboys seems like a lock.

Sources maintain to The Ranch Report that any potential trade for Choice remains a long shot at best.
