Emmitt Will Miss Team Meeting

The first team meeting of the Bill Parcells era is scheduled for 1 PM Wednesday, but you can go ahead and write down one name that won't be attendence, and that's future Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith.

Smith will spend most of Wednesday in Austin, where he will be recognized in the Senate and the House of Representatives. Wednesday night, Smith will be again be honored at a dinner hosted by the Texas Travel Association.

While most people are quick to assume this could be the beginning of the end for the NFL's All-Time Leading Rusher wearing the Silver Star, officials at Valley Ranch have confirmed that this was known for weeks in advance.

Interestingly enough, Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones will be in attendance for both events, which could allow for further talks between the two sides to take place.

Wednesday's meeting between Parcells and the team will be the first official team meeting meeting since Parcells took over as the head coach back in early January.

The former NFL Coach of the Year has already had several one-on-one meetings with several players, but today will mark the first time he addresses the team as a whole.
