Roster Moves

The Dolphins brought back a couple of players on Wednesday, defensive end Lionel Dotson and linebacker Erik Walden. Both of them were among the final cuts when the Dolphins got down to the 53-man roster limit.

To make room for the two, the Dolphins released rookie defensive end Clifton Geathers and rookie linebacker Micah Johnson.

The addition of Dotson was necessitated by the foot injury sustained in the opener by first-round pick Jared Odrick.

Depending on who you believe, Odrick will miss either two weeks or six weeks because of the injury, but the bottom line is the Dolphins need reinforcements along the defensive line because Odrick definitely won't play Sunday at Minnesota.

As for Walden, his return might be a signal that Coach Tony Sparano wasn't happy with the play of the special teams in the opener at Buffalo.

CHECKING OUT THOMAS: Published reports indicate the Dolphins brought in veteran linebacker Adalius Thomas for a workout. The former Ravens and Patriots linebacker also has talked to the New York Jets, but he remains unsigned.
