The Daily Take will be posted every weekday at 3 p.m. and will offer our opinion on a pertinent topic involving the Dolphins. Today we discuss the defensive style.

The Dolphins will be looking to add some players through the draft and the remainder of free agency, but one important they can do for themselves is tweak their defensive philosophy.

Simply put, the Dolphins need to be more aggressive. Coach Dave Wannstedt said after the season the Dolphins add and tweak their defense every year, but we're talking here about a more profound change.

Such as blitz more often.

The Dolphins ask their cornerbacks to play press coverage, which is about as difficult a task for a corner as you can get. But what they need to do to complement that is make sure you get to the quarterback.

Unfortunately, there are times when the Dolphins don't get a good enough pass rush to help the defense, and usually that happens when the Dolphins are on the road.

The argument can be made that the Dolphins don't have great pass-rushing linebackers, but if that's the belief, then the Dolphins need to add somebody who can get that job done.

The bottom line is that, as Sam Madison pointed out in the offseason, the Dolphins don't change up often enough on defense. Opponents have pointed out at times that the Dolphins defense doesn't disguise anything. Maybe it's time to start doing that.
