In case you missed it, here are some news and notes from this past weekend's Dolphins minicamp.

-- Cornerbacks Patrick Surtain and Sam Madison both skipped the workouts after undergoing offseason knee surgery. Wide receiver Chris Chambers also didn't work out because he "tweaked" a hamstring a couple of weeks while working out.

-- Rookie free agent linebacker Byron Hardmon was excused because he was attending graduation ceremonies at the University of Florida, while veteran defensive end Rob Burnett missed the weekend work because he was getting married.

-- Wide receiver Derrius Thompson made several acrobatic catches, similar to those Oronde Gadsden made for several years. Speaking of Gadsden, Coach Dave Wannstedt reiterated on Sunday that the door is not closed on his return, but that the two sides just haven't been able to come to a contract agreement.

-- Wannstedt said Arturo Freeman would work strictly at safety this season.

-- New linebacker Junior Seau impressed everybody with his quickness and intensity over the weekend.

-- Former Dolphins offensive line Jeff Dellenbach worked with the team on a voluntary basis to figure out if he wants to get into the coaching profession on a full-time basis.
