Wide receiver O.J. McDuffie was among three players placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list on the first day of training camp.

McDuffie has been trying to bounce back from his severe toe injury sustained late in the 1999 season.

Also placed on PUP at the start of training camp were tight end Alonzo Mayes and linebacker Scott Galyon.

The move with Mayes was expected considering he underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason and isn't expected back until October. He more than likely will stay on PUP at the start of the regular season.

As for Galyon, he is trying to win the starting strongside linebacker spot which belonged to veteran Robert Jones last season. A prolonged absence by Galyon could pave the way for rookie Morlon Greenwood to land the starting assignment.
