The 5-11, 277-pound Lane, nicknamed "J-Train," has drawn comparisons to longtime Steelers running back Jerome Bettis because of his size.
That size actually got too big in the spring of 2009 when Lane was close to 300 pounds. That led to his going undrafted.
Since then, Lane has played in the Indoor Football League and last November he signed with the Orlando Predators of the Arena League.
Like CFL import Jerome Messam, Lane actually is more of an oversized halfback than a pure fullback, but given his size, it's clear Lane should be able to handle blocking assignments.
