LaVell Boyd, who played two games with the Cincinnati Bengals last season, was signed on July 30 as the Dolphins replaced one young wideout with another.

On the same day Boyd was signed, the Dolphins waived wide receiver Ronnie Anderson, who had left the team for personal reasons a couple of days earlier.

Boyd, who stands 6-3, 215, spent the first 12 games of the 2000 on the Bengals' practice squad before being promoted to the active roster. He did not post any stats in his two games.

Boyd was a three-year letterman at the University of Louisville and had 135 total receptions for 1,775 yards and 10 touchdowns. His best season at Louisville came in 1999 when he caught 60 passes for 836 yards and nine touchdowns.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, Boyd was brought to give the Dolphins one more body during training camp. His chances of making the roster are extremely thin.
