FROM THE LOCKER ROOM

What the Dolphins had to say after Monday night's game:

DEFENSIVE END KENNY MIXON

"I can't come to any conclusions (about the defense) right now. We had a few snaps and some guys didn't play and some guys were banged up but we're feeling good about where we are and we're just ready to roll."

COACH DAVE WANNSTEDT

"I was pleased with Jay (Fiedler). I thought Lamar was good. Our first offense really moved the ball up and down the field. I think the possession time in the first half was 21 minutes to 8 or something, so we held on to the football, we ran the football."

"Overall, our entire defense played good run defense and that was something that was a concern and an emphasis going into training camp."

"At the end it was just sloppy. Our first offense did not have a penalty and then as we progressively got guys playing, we went backwards in the fourth quarter and never gave ourselves a chance because of a lot of crazy penalties."

DEFENSIVE END JASON TAYLOR

"I'm fine. It was just a little stinger in the shoulder and was no big deal. If it had been a regular season game I would've gone right back in."

QUARTERBACK JAY FIEDLER

"On the interception, the linebacker baited me in a little bit. Overall, I thought the first offense was very good. We ran the ball, we completed some throws and we just got some good runs after the catch. We drove it down and put a touchdown on the board. I thought it was a pretty good effort."

FULLBACK ROB KONRAD

On his early catches: "The first play I think we switched up a little bit. They thought we were probably gonna try and come out and pound the ball a little bit. We did a little play action, I was the first read on that, I slipped out into the flat, the SAM linebacker got caught in the run and we got a nice little gain and had another catch on a third down, where was able to outrun the linebacker a little bit, Jay got me the ball and I was able to get it upfield."

WIDE RECEIVER ORONDE GADSDEN

About the first-team offense: "We've got some work to do but we're still pretty good. We feel confident about the building blocks we put in place last year and with the addition of the receivers McKnight and Chambers I think we can be that much better. We put together a drive that lasted over five minutes and I think that's what one of our concerns was that we could sustain a drive this early in the season and we did. We even stuck it in the end zone. So we're happy about that, but I think the best part about tonight was that we finally got to go up against somebody other than our own defense."
