Punter Chris Hanson was among three players waived on Wednesday, a move that locks up veteran Matt Turk's spot on the roster.<P>

It had been suggested that Turk's job might be in jeopardy after he struggled through an inconsistent 2000 season.

But Turk, who had to deal with his brother's losing battle with cancer throughout last year, has been very impressive in training camp, showing the form that made him a three-time Pro Bowl selection.

In Monday night's preseason game against Tampa Bay, Turk unleashed two 56-yard kicks and he finished the game with a phenomenal 47.3-yard net average.

In addition to Hanson, the other players let go on Wednesday were guard Dan Palmer and defensive tackle Otis Pitts, both of whom were waived/injured.

Also of note, former Bears linebacker Sean Harris, who worked out for the Dolphins last week, has signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
