Official Visit For Rogers

Iowa Western C.C. defensive back Charlie Rogers is taking his time with the recruiting process, leaving his focus elsewhere. However, he did pinpoint two programs he's in contact with frequently, and mentioned a possible official visit in the near future.

One of the top junior college prospects in the country is Iowa Western's Charlie Rogers. The athletic safety played a year for Iowa State before entering the junior college ranks.

He currently holds offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Utah State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Idaho, Wyoming, Georgia State, and South Alabama. Expect that to increase as time goes on.

His recruitment hasn't had any big developments as he's been directing his focus elsewhere.

"I haven't taken any visits yet," Rogers said. "I haven't been able to. I haven't really spent a lot of time at all on my recruitment lately. I'm not waiting for more offers or anything like that. I just haven't paid much attention to it because I've been working on getting better as a player and as a person. I've been grinding all summer and working hard, and letting my recruitment take care of itself."

Rogers shared what programs he's stayed close with.

"I stay in contact with Illinois and Minnesota the most," he admitted. "I stay in touch with them all quite frequently. I'm waiting right now, though. I don't really have a leader or anything like that."

He discussed his interest in both Illinois and Minnesota.

"They said I can come in and be a starter there," Rogers noted about the Illini. "I have a chance to make a big impact there."

"I have spoken with Minnesota frequently," he added. "I knew that staff already. I had a feel for them going in."

An official visit could take place in the near future, however.

"I haven't thought about visits too much, yet," Rogers pointed out. "I might take one to Minnesota. They were talking about getting me in soon before the season started. We're discussing an official visit. We'll be staying in contact so we can figure out the further details."

In the past, Rogers indicated he was looking for a place with genuine people that understood him and his background. He explained if he was any closer to finding that fit.

"I'm not any closer to that," he stressed. "I'm keeping it wide open for a little bit longer."
