Earlier in the week, it was reported that Miami Dolphins kicker Caleb Sturgis would miss the rest of OTAs with a quadriceps injury in his plant leg. The origin of Sturgis’ injury was unknown and undisclosed by the organization.
According to multiple sources including ESPN’s James Walker, Sturgis suffered the injury while partaking in a team-building kickball game. He will miss at least four weeks. The injury, though amusing on the surface, could spell problems for the former fifth round pick. The Dolphins currently have Andrew Franks on the roster, but will likely bring in a veteran kicker to compete in OTAs and training camp.
On the bright side, I bet Sturgis was first player taken overall in the kickball game.
