The writers and analysts over at NFL.com have been releasing their all-divisional teams as of late. Yesterday, Dave Dameshek released who he thought belonged on the All AFC East divisional team. Six Miami Dolphins made the team.
Dameshek’s complete team can be found here.
On the offensive side of the ball, Dameshek had Branden Albert at one of the tackle spots and Mike Pouncey at one of the guard spots. Pouncey will play center this year for the Dolphins, but Dameshek had that position doled out to New York Jets center Nick Mangold.
Defensively, the Dolphins that made the All AFC East team were defensive end Cameron Wake, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, cornerback Brent Grimes and safety Reshad Jones. It was surprising to see both Wake and Suh given the honor (although they both deserve it), partly because the AFC East is loaded across the defensive line positions. Still, congratulations to these players, because the Miami Dolphins are usually only the targets of negative posts or undermining posts on NFL.com.
Who got snubbed that I felt deserved recognition on this team? Surprisingly, I think the team wasn’t that bad. However, Dameshek did say that LeSean McCoy was hands down the best running back in the AFC East, and that his second choice would have been Buffalo teammate Fred Jackson. In other words, he had virtually no respect for Lamar Miller, even though Miller finished 2014 as a top ten running back.
