In my opinion, the Buffalo Bills made the biggest moves in the off-season, with the acquisitions of head coach Rex Ryan, running back LeSean McCoy, and wide receiver Percy Harvin. This looks great on paper, but in my opinion Percy Harvin has not had a good season since his days in Minnesota. With two weeks to go, the Bills are in a stalemate at the quarterback position. Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor, and EJ Manual are all battling it out for that elusive position. My money is on Cassel getting the starting job.
Right now the New York Jets are in no better position then the Buffalo Bills. They have a choice of four quarterbacks to take the helm; my money is on Geno Smith being their go to guy, with Ryan Fitzpatrick waiting to take over the second Smith makes a mistake or continues to not pay his debts (sorry had to go there). The other two in the mix are Matt Flynn and Bryce Petty. We’ll see what happens in the following weeks to come, but I think Smith and Fitzpatrick are what the Jets will be stuck with. At the wide receiver position the Jets are not too bad. Former Miami Dolphin Brandon Marshall leads the pack, which includes Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa. Too bad they don’t have a QB to throw to them yet. I guess the running game will have to come into play.
Oh, the mighty New England Patriots. Will Tom Brady play or will he not play. That is the question! Yes, it’s only a four game suspension, but it’s four games without their star quarterback. Some fans that I have talked to, believe that things will be just fine with Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm. I think the Patriots are going to be in trouble in their first four games. With injuries to their entire receiving core, which includes Brandon LaFell, Julian Edelman, Brian Tyms and Aaron Dobson. Who is Garoppolo going to throw to, Reggie Wayne? He’s going to be double covered every play.
Okay, the Miami Dolphins are 0-2. It’s pre-season, look across the league, lots of teams are in the same situation. Ryan Tannehill is having an incredible start to the year. He has a touchdown on three of his four possessions in the preseason, and we haven’t yet played a meaningful game yet. The Dolphins’ defensive line is going to be one of the tops in the league. Here is hoping that cornerback Jamar Taylor and Brice McCain are healthy for week one, they are scary together with All-Pro selection Brent Grimes. Wide receiver DeVante Parker is having a slow preseason, but what do you expect? He isn’t going to showcase what he can really do till it really matters. I think he has a good chance at rookie of the year, wait and see, this guy is good.
Miami Dolphin fans, are you as excited as I am? The season begins in just two more weeks. Sorry, I should have said, "NFL fans, are you ready for what is going to be a great year?" No matter whom you cheer for, this year WILL have some unexpected surprises. GO FINS GO!!!
