If there was anything good for the Miami Dolphins from last week it would have to be that Ryan Tannehill and Jarvis Landry played well and seemed to be on the same page every down. Other than those two, there are a lot of problems that need to be addressed.
The Miami Dolphins defense is the key issue that needs to be analyzed. What has happened to Miami’s supposedly stellar defensive line? Zero sacks against a team that allowed 55 last year. That’s straight up embarrassing! Blake Bortles is only a decent quarterback when he is comfortable and he sure was against Miami. Bortles threw for 273 yards and had two touchdowns with no interceptions. This Sunday Miami will face a dual threat quarterback in Tyrod Taylor who can also make plays with his arm when on the run and outside the pocket. If the Dolphins pass rush is non-existent they will not stand a chance and Taylor will make plays with his legs and arm. Kevin Coyle, the defensive coordinator for the Dolphins, better get his issues worked out with Ndamukong Suh and improve the defensive unit for Miami before its too late.
Another issue that needs to be looked at is the number of penalties that the Dolphins had called against them last Sunday. Joe Philbin, the head coach of the Miami Dolphins is famous for preaching about penalties. Last year the Dolphins were one of the least penalized teams in the league. Against the Jaguars they had 13 penalties that accounted for 112 yards. The big penalty came on the final drive when Oliver Vernon pushed a Jacksonville player player to the ground to give the Jaguars 15 extra yards and an easy field goal attempt from 28 yards that sealed the win for Jacksonville.
The last time Miami and the Bills met was last season and the Dolphins beat them 22-9. So far this season the Miami Dolphins are going through some major struggles and I think the outcome of this game could be much different with Buffalo coming out on top. Miami has a lot of work to do, but one week is not enough time. I think the Bills will take this one, but Miami fans should look at this in a positive light. The Dolphins know what they need to fix and it should be exciting to see their improvement this weekend when they face off against a strong Buffalo Bills team.
