Miami Dolphins' Coaching Search Thickens

Eric Roddy breaks down the current list of coaching candidates for the Miami Dolphins.

Wow. What a season 2015 has been. Like the past three seasons, the Miami Dolphins finished their year on a disappointing note, failing to turn a talented team into a playoff bound organization. A lot of this fell on former head coach Joe Philbin, who we saw fired earlier in the year. Interim head coach Dan Campbell has done well considering the situation in which he began his short head coaching career, and he will get an interview to remain the man in Miami. Here is a list of the other candidates that we know of as of now. This list is subject to change really at anytime as Mike Tannenbaum begins conducting interviews.

1. Dan Campbell - Current Dolphins head coach and former Tight Ends coach.

2. Mike Shanahan - Former head coach of the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Raiders and Washington Redskins. Has won 2 Super Bowls.

3. Doug Marrone - Former head coach of the Buffalo Bills and Syracuse Orangemen. Current OL coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

4. Mike Smith - former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, and former defensive coordinator of the Jaguars.

5. Josh McDaniels - former head coach of the Denver Broncos, current OC of the New England Patriots

6. Matt Patricia - current defensive coordinator of the Patriots.

7. Sean Payton - current head coach of the New Orleans Saints. Has won one Super Bowl. (Payton has elected to remain with the Saints)

8. Tom Coughlin - former head coach of the NY Giants. Has won two Super Bowls.

9. Teryl Austin - current defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions.

10. Adam Gase - current OC for the Chicago Bears.

11. Anthony Lynn - current RB coach for the Buffalo Bills

12. Hue Jackson - current OC for the Cincinnati Bengals

13. Chip Kelly - former HC of the Philadelphia Eagles

This is just the beginning of a list that could include more names, and names will be eliminated as other positions are filled.
