Manning Hosts Brady for AFC Title Game

Blanton Stagno breaks down the Broncos and Patriots as Manning hosts Brady.

The Denver Broncos vs the New England Patriots. This is what we have been waiting for. This is what it was supposed to be; the top two teams in the AFC Championship for a chance to make it to the Super Bowl. It doesn’t get better than this. The top defense in the league going up against Tom Brady who runs the top offense in the AFC. Will this be the last time we see Peyton play Brady? All I can say is this is not a game you want to miss.

Tom Brady overall has a better record than Manning at 11-5, but Peyton has won the last two post-season matchups against the Patriots, and both were conference championship games at Mile High Stadium. Brady still remembers that loss in 2013 when Peyton played flawlessly and Brady struggled against the Broncos defense. Well Denver’s defense is back and its better than ever before.

Denver’s defense is absolutely incredible. I have always been a big Peyton Manning fan and I have never seen him play with a defense as talented as this one. He had some great defensive units when he was on the Colts, but none of them compare to the Bronco’s. During the 2015-16 season Denver has allowed opponents to only score 18.5 points per game. They have held teams to only 83 rushing yards and a total of 283 yards per game. What amazes me most though is that only 19 passing touchdowns have been thrown against them this season.

This defense shines in the red zone. Tom Brady is an amazing quarterback, but the only way he will defeat Manning and the Broncos is if he and his Offense can produce touchdowns in the red zone. The same goes for Peyton and Denver’s Offense. The Patriots have a solid defense as well and it is no mystery that Denver’s offense has struggled a bit this year. Its all on Manning and his receivers to score big in the red zone. Field Goals will not win this game for either team, even though both teams have arguably the two best kickers in the NFL. Its all going to come down to which team scores touchdowns.

I believe the Broncos are going to advance to the Super Bowl. I think they will beat arguably the most complete team in the NFL, by exposing weak points in the Patriots Offense like their running game. I expect the Broncos to be ready and play to level that we haven’t seen this year. This is probably Peyton’s last season and Denver wants to win it all for him. Broncos pull away in the 4th quarter and defeat the New England Patriots 26-21.
