Miami Dolphins Transition Tag Vernon

The Miami Dolphins have made a move on pending free agent DE Olivier Vernon.

The Miami Dolphins have made their first big move of the 2016 offseason, placing the transition tag on DE Olivier Vernon.

The tag guarantees Vernon $12.73 million for the 2016 season, and provides the Dolphins with the opportunity to match any opposing team's offer, which will start on March 7.

It gives the Dolphins a good chance at retaining Vernon, and benefits Vernon by essentially starting a bidding war.

The Dolphins are struggling with cap space right now, so if a team raises the price on Vernon, it is unlikely that the Dolphins will be able to keep him.

Stay tuned for more updates regarding this situation as it unfolds.
