Miami Dolphins Sign Mario Williams

The Miami Dolphins have made a positive move for the club in signing former Buffalo Bills DE Mario Williams.

Mario Williams was released from the Buffalo Bills last week and was signed today by G.M. Mike Tannenbaum for an estimated $8mililon a year on a two-year contract.

With this signing, the Miami Dolphins could possibly be moving on from DE Cameron Wake or they will not match an offer sheet that was signed by Olivier Vernon.  By signing Williams today Miami might rescind the transition tender and release Cameron Wake shortly, or Miami will keep Wake and use his talents in a rotational role if both sides can agree on the financial end of things.

Mario Williams was the first overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft by the Houston Texans, he is also a four-time Pro Bowl selection. In his first three seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Williams made 38 sacks.  That is the fourth-most in the NFL over that time span.

It was also documented that Williams was not happy in his role under Bills head coach Rex Ryan. I think the change of teams and working under a new coaching staff with a fresh out-look with the Miami Dolphins will bring out the best in Williams.
