Miami Dolphins: Notes from OTA's

Haven't been keeping up with the Miami Dolphins during OTA's? Eric Roddy updates you with the latest surrounding the team so far.

The Miami Dolphins are off to a hot start under new HC Adam Gase during OTA's, with almost all players showing up for the activities, eager to learn the new systems under their new coach.

Here is a general summary of what's been going on this week at OTA's so far:

  • Ifo Ekpre-Olomu is back on the field after missing nearly 18 months of football with his knee injury, and is feeling pretty good. He has a great shot at rotating in and out at the cornerback position for the team if he can regain his form before being injured.

  • Speaking of our QB, Griff Whalen notes how impressed he is with Tannehill's knowledge and leadership early on in learning Adam Gase's offense. stating, "his grasp of the offense is really impressive this early on. It's been good having that leadership in the huddle

  • Rookie kicker Marshall Koehn has impressed early and has a legit chance at upending Andrew Franks for the starting kicking job. Length strength between the two is nearly identical.

As for the defense....

It is good to see Cameron Wake getting back to his old form before he tore his Achilles last season, and Billy TurnerJermon BushrodDallas Thomas and Kraig Urbik are all getting reps at guard as well as at tackle.

The team is looking to piece together the best 5 as a UNIT, regardless of who is at what position. Laremy Tunsil continues to get reps at left guard.

Adam Gase is all business, claiming he will not call rookie Jakeem Grant by his nickname "Mighty Mouse," and how his conversation with Koa Misi featured more talking on Gase's end.

The only two Dolphins not to at least show up to OTA's? Thomas Duarte and Reshad Jones. Jones is still holding out hoping for a new contract and Duarte can't participate due to UCLA's school system.
