The Dolphins will be coming off of a 14 – 41 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, where the defense was basically non-existent.
A big area that the Dolphins will look to fix will be the penalties, during their game against the Cowboys they committed 10 penalties for 79 yards. Whether it’s preseason or regular season it’s extremely hard to win games in the NFL when your giving away yards and touchdowns to your opponents.
As for individuals on the Dolphins defense, the upcoming game against the Falcons could be the season debut and return of starting DE Cameron Wake, whose season was cut short last year due to an Achilles injury. However, Wake is said to be a game-time decision so we’ll just have to wait and see until then.
Aside from Wake’s potential debut the rest of the Dolphins defense will have a chance to redeem themselves this week after basically being non-existent against the Cowboys last week. As for special teams, Jakeem Grant looked nice once again returning both kicks and punts for the Dolphins, and looks to be the new return man should current return man Jarvis Landry be left to focus solely on his receiver position. As bad as the Dolphins defense was last week things can only go up from here, as we inch closer to the regular season which is just a little over two weeks away.
