Miami Dolphins Seattle Seahawks: Defensive Preview

Can the Miami Dolphins' defense corral one of the league's most potent offenses as the 'Fins take on the Seattle Seahawks and the 12th man?

Finally after months of waiting the regular season is just around the corner for the Miami Dolphins as they take on the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday in Seattle at 3 pm.The Dolphins will be coming off of a 21 -10 loss in the final preseason game against the Tennessee Titans finishing the preseason with a 2-2 record.

While many are already giving the Dolphins a loss (myself included in a season predictions article I wrote) I’m beginning to think the Dolphins may stand a better chance than originally thought due to their defensive line, which will look to overpower the offensive line of the Seahawks that struggled throughout much of last year. While the front four for the Dolphins consisting of Ndamukong Suh, Earl Mitchell, newcomer Mario Williams, and the returning Cameron wake should be able to give the offensive line of the Seahawks all they can handle, it will ultimately come down to how well the highly criticized linebackers like Koa MisiKiko Alonso, and Spencer Paysinger can perform.

New Dolphins CB Byron Maxwell will also look to return to his Seattle form after being lackluster with the Philadelphia Eagles. He will have his hands full with the likes of his former Seattle teammates Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse.

This game should also answer whether or not the Dolphins will move Jarvis Landry from returner/wide receiver to full time wide receiver, as rookie Jakeem Grant will look to build on a strong preseason showing and solidify the role of starting kick/punt returner, of which he has been name starter. Regardless of the outcome of this game, with it being so early in the season, should the Dolphins lose they will still have plenty of time to rebound, and make up for it as the season goes on. However should they pull off the upset against the Seahawks the sky would be the limit for how far this team can go. Only time will tell as finally all NFL fans can rejoice as football is officially back!
