Miami Dolphins: Kenyan Drake MVP

Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots proved close but unfortunately not close enough. That is okay though because one of the Dolphins rookies showed himself to be truly spectacular during this game.

I am talking about RB Kenyan Drake. During the game according to the Palm Beach Post, “[..] he had 2 rushes and 2 catches for 15 yards and his first career touchdown.” along with “[…] right end and into the end zone with 6:10 remaining for a seven-yard score to bring the Dolphins within 31-24.” At a total of 18 plays Drake might end up playing more for the team since Arian Foster is suffering from an injury.

It is clear that the Patriots can be hard on rookies but according to HC Adam Gase, Drake can “be very productive for us in the passing game, and he gives us an element of speed on the edge. He's still a physical guy. We want to see how far we can take him and how much we can grow this season.” Gase has a new appreciation for Drake having never discussed him like this before but when many of the points and great plays are owed to you as a player, the HC has to take notice of your accomplishments.

As for Drake we can be sure to see him tearing up the field once again this Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. I have no doubt that he will be more in use since he worked so hard this last game just keeping the ball and not taking his opportunity lightly. It is clear that he is doing his best to help his team win and will continue to improve as the season goes on. We will just have to see what that means for the rest of us.
