Miami Wins To Open New Stadium

In what was the first home game at the newly renovated Hard Rock Stadium. The Miami Dolphins pulled out a 30-24 overtime win against the Cleveland Browns.

Dolphins’ running back Jay Ajayi scored an 11-yard run late into the overtime quarter, giving the Miami Dolphins their first win for the early start of the season.

Ryan Tannehill had a spectacular game throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns. WR Jarvis Landry caught seven passes for a total of 120 yards, including the set-up play that saw Landry left wide-open for a 32-yard reception that sprung the game-winning play from Ajayi.

Miami trailed at the half 13-10 until Jarvis Landry caught a 42-yard touchdown in the third quarter to move the Dolphins into the lead. Tannehill opened up the lead early in the fourth when he completed a touchdown pass to Damien Williams making the score 24-13.

Things became interesting when Browns “iron man” Terrelle Pryor became the first Browns player since 1977 to have multiple receptions, rushes, and passes in the same game. Pryor’s new role with the team places him in the WR position but also played quarterback and he also stepped into the safety position before the first half ended. Late in the fourth Cleveland ended up evening up the score at 24 and sending the game into overtime.

Head Coach Adam Gase was in no mood to celebrate the win. Gase was vocally upset with the way his offense played and was quoted in saying "It irritated me a little bit. It still does."

Some notable injuries were Center Mike Pouncey missing his third game with a hip injury, Center Anthony Steen left with an ankle injury, Linebacker’s Jelani Jenkins, Koa Misi, and tight end Jordan Cameron all left with injuries during this game.

The Miami Dolphins have a short week as they travel to Cincinnati to play the Bengals on Thursday Night Football.
