The Dolphins, like all NFL teams, got down to the 53-man roster on Sunday. The Dolphins made 14 roster moves to get to that point, the most interesting involving running back Robert Edwards and wide receiver Oronde Gadsden.

Edwards, who had been battling Leonard Henry for the last roster spot at halfback, was among 13 players waived.

Gadsden, meanwhile, was placed on injured reserve, meaning he is ineligible to play for the Dolphins this season. There had been talk Gadsden would be released with an injury settlement or just flat-out released, but putting him on IR had been considered the least likely option.

Along with Edwards, the players waived Sunday were center/guard Troy Andrew, safety Yeremiah Bell, cornerback Korey Banks, wide receiver Ronald Bellamy, tackle Greg Jerman, corner back Omare Lowe, wide receiver Kendall Newson, tackle Tim Provost, cornerback Alphonso Roundtree, linebacker Justin Seaverns and defensive tackle Johnny Thomas.

Linebacker Bam Hardmon was waived/injured.

The 53-man roster includes three quarterbacks, four halfbacks, two fullbacks, five wide receivers, four tight ends, nine offensive lineman, nine defensive linemen, six linebackers, nine defensive backs and two kicking specialists.
