IT'S RICKY TIME

Ricky Williams begins defense of his NFL rushing title Sunday against the Houston Texans, and all eyes will be on him to see if he can duplicate his success of last season.

Based on the preseason, maybe we should be concerned about Williams because his numbers were abysmal.

But you know what? So what!

His numbers weren't very good last preseason either and he kicked some butt in the regular season.

Williams is lighter and faster than he was last season, so we can expect more long runs like he had last season when he led the NFL with 57 runs of 10 yards or more.

Now is the time when Williams will get a full dose of work, and that's why the preseason is so bogus when it comes to evaluating his progress.

The guy is a stud. Period. End of story.

He might not rush for 1,853 yards again this season, but he will be very productive again. And he's obviously the guy who is going to make the Dolphins offense go.
